VINTAGE 1979 POPY CHOGOKIN DALTANIOUS ST GA-99 (a.k.a DALTANIAS)

This Popy ST Daltanous is my last purchase for 2022 and I am very satisfied for this unexpected deal. I got this for about 40% discount off the current market value. After paying shipping and import tax, it's still worth the price. I was kind of worried of the toy condition because of the lower price, but to my surprise when I got it today, the toy is mint and complete!

Beautiful artwork! The box has minor shelf wear with no tears.

Even the perforated red tab with GA-99 on the box flap is still intact. This is the final Popy Chogokin toy with the "GA" serial number. After this starts the "GB" serial numbers.

The styrofoam is crisp. Comparing this set with some online pictures, it is only missing the Popy catalogue.

The baggie is sealed and will be kept that way. Accessories includes 6 missiles, cross bow, two additional fists and Gyro Spinner (the spike weapon that wrap around the wrist). Outside the baggie, there's the long Fire Flame sword.

The instructions are printed on just 1 page, similar to other ST Chogokins robots at that time.

Examining the robot closely, there are hardly any paint rubs. The chrome is still shiny and joint are tight. I suspect this toy is hardly played with or even brand new.

The body and legs are diecast metal. The lion head is diecast metal too making it a small but hefty figure.

The Fire Flame Sword is a very long sword. It's length is almost similar to the height of the robot.

Play Gimmick 1 - Firing Fists (Big Punch). This set comes with 4 fists.

Play Gimmick 2 - Firing missiles on Belarious / Velarious (The Lion head).

Play Gimmick 3 - Firing Feet Gunper Missile. Tested the firing gimmicks on fist and feet and they work great! Also notice the thighs are painted with Gold Chrome!

Play Gimmick 4 - Flip out Gunper Wing. If you're not familiar, Gunper is the name of the spaceship. This robot is a combination of Atlaus/Atlas (smaller robot), Belarious/Velarious (Lion) and Gunper (space ship).

Here are some size comparison with other Popy Chogokin ST robots.

Daltanious with Golion! Golion is taller even with the wings folded down. Both these robots shared a common play gimmick - the firing fists and feet! However Daltanious comes with more accessories .as Golion only comes with his Blazing Sword and Shield (Star Cutter).

If you are a vintage Chogokin collector, definitely recommend that you hunt this down. You can still find it relatively easy in the secondary market but the price is quite steep for a mint in box specimen. I am really happy to own this. What a great collectible to end the year!
