This is the robot I wanted as a kid but never got it. Didn't watch the cartoon or even know his name. It's just the cool design of Lion head on its chest in the combined robot mode that made me want it. As years goes by, I've forgotten about this and was into collecting Voltron and Golion., While reading about the history of Voltron, Daltanias comes into the picture again. Originally, Daltanias was the cartoon that World Events Production (WEP) requested from TOEI Animation Japan. But the Japanese misunderstood their request (WEP wanted the cartoon with lion) and sent them Golion instead. WEP thought that Golion was a much better cartoon and thus Voltron was born. So historically, Daltanias, Golion and Voltron are sort of connected in a way.

I finally pulled the trigger to buy this Bandai Godaikin Daltanias. The box have water damage but the toy is new, never played with and complete. Box size is little smaller than Golion.

Daltanias is made up of Atlaus the robot, Velarious the lion and Gunper, the spaceship. My set is brand new in box, never played.

Firing fist - as expected in any Japanese vintage robot....

Velarious mouth open and closes.

My Velarious have a gold chromed legs with silver chromed joints (pic on right). Some samples I see have the entire legs chromed silver. It's interesting to note that the newer Soul of Chogokin (SOC) Belarious (pic on left) have beige legs with silver joints. I guess the SOC version is trying to match it's vintage counterpart colors.

I will not combine them as I want to preserve its minty condition. The joints are tight and chrome is beautiful.

Atlaus forms the head and shoulders, Velarious the chest and waist and Gunper the legs of Daltanias.

He comes with loads of accessories and weapons!

I've been waiting for a nice, mint and complete Godaikin Daltanias with good price in eBay. Have waited for few years and finally one popped up. Glad to won this in eBay. A complete and mint specimen is quite expensive - ranging from USD700-1000. (I got this much cheaper even with shipping) Incomplete and loose specimens can be easily found in eBay. Definitely would recommend this to vintage chogokin collectors because this is a great robot toy design and loaded with fantastic play features.
