PLAYMATES LEGENDARY DEFENDER VOLTRON

The Netflix Voltron Legendary Defender is a pretty good reboot of Voltron surprisingly. I got this Playmates Legendary defender Voltron set a long time ago (in 2017 I think) and I thought I had blogged about it. Apparently I was mistaken.

So anyway here it is. (please ignore the background - I took these pics in my office!)

Starting off with the Black Lion. Play feature - electronic sounds and chest lights up.

Play feature 2 - the belly opens for the mini pilot's Speeder to dock. All the lions have this feature.

There's a pilot molded in the mini speeder. But its molded in black and it's difficult to see.

On the packaging, the mini Speeder and pilot is actually painted (see pic below). I can understand the lack of paint as these mini speeder are tiny. The good thing here is these pilot's speeders are not of the same mold, they are design differently.

The Blue and Yellow Lion - the back body and legs are the same mold.

Play features 3 - shooting missiles (Red, Green & Blue Lions) and launching disc (Yellow Lion).

The Green and Red limbs Lions - the body is the same mold.

Play feature 4 - combine to form 16" tall Voltron. One cool electronic feature is that the Black Lion can detect which limbs and legs that was connected and utter phrases in relation to the connected lion.

The design of this LD Voltron - his arms looks like Popeye's. However, it managed to hide the Lion legs. He's back heavy, kinda difficult to make him stand. Overall a very nice toy with decent amount of play features. Price on the secondary market had soared to USD299-350 for the set.
