Based on the 1982 TV show Space Sheriff Gavan, this is the Super Dimensional Ship Dolgiran, headquarters of Gavan and it circles around Earth. It comprises of 2 vehicles - Giran Saucer (Giran Enban) and the robotic dragon Electronic Starbeast Dol (Denshi Seiju Doru)

This toy was in my radar after I saw a Facebook posting of the robotic Dol Dragon. When I saw the price of this toy in the secondary market, I gave up the idea of ever owning one. That is until yesterday when I saw this toy was up for sale locally, at a very reasonable price. There's only one catch, the left leg of the dragon is broken. The toy is complete with box and instructions, so I took the risk to get it, hoping to be able to fix the broken leg.

Check out the beautiful box art.

Once open, there's another beautifully illustrated cardboard insert.

To my surprise, all the mini styrofoam inserts are still present.

Let's look at the Dol first. His mouth can open and close. His legs are articulated. I managed to superglue the left leg. The left thigh can't move because of this. Dol's body is diecast.

Play feature 1 - The Dol transforms into a spaceship. Pull the body apart...

...and flip the dragon head and tail in.

Push back the wings to snap close and you'll get spaceship. Pretty cool looking!

Play feature 2 - the Dol spaceship connects to Giran Saucer just like in the TV show.

Now let's take a closer at Giran Saucer. The chrome on my specimen still looks good.

The entire bottom piece is diecast. It has foldable landing gears.

Play feature 3 - launching disks. The launching mechanism still works great.

Play feature 4 - at the front of the saucer, there's a panel that can be open by sliding left.

It is a storage space for the two mini vehicles.

Play feature 5 - Launching vehicles. Right above the storage space is a vehicle launcher. This too works fine for my specimen.

To detach the Dol from the Giran Saucer, press the big red button, which is beautifully detailed with circuitry.

Happy to note that this feature is in good working condition too.

My set comes with 11 disks and 4 mini vehicles of 2 different designs.

This is a very rare item. Saw the asking for a loose incomplete but with box for USD600 in eBay and a complete one for USD1000. Glad to have it in my collection.
