Toynami produced a "Limited Edition" 20th Anniversary Masterpiece diecast Voltron which is limited to 15000 pieces. It comes with a limited edition certificate. This made the price soared sky high.

Not long after that, Toynami reissued the same Voltron but a plastic version.

The same Voltron was reissued yet again, this time as a joint-promo with Reebok shoes.

5 years later, Toynami reissued the same Voltron celebrating the 25th Anniversary.

5 years after that, you guessed it, Toynami reissued the SAME Voltron as 30th Anniversary. So much for "Limited Edition" of 15000 pieces.

I am not a fan of Toynami Voltron. Bad design and quality issues led to negative reviews online. I skipped all the versions Toynami released and only settled for the 30th Anniversary one. So why did I buy this? This version came with something extra. Let's look at the positive side of things.

I like the illustration in this packaging - The illustration is very dynamic and cool!

This set comes with a very nice electronic base, Voltron's key and individual Lion's weapons. The added accessories are the reason I bought this set.

The color booklet and instructions.

Toynami Voltron lions are known to have skinny legs.

Another feature of this version is that Voltron have light up eyes.

But there's is no on-off button (despite the hefty price tag) for the light up eyes feature. Instead you have to keep the plastic tab inserted between connector strips. Really poor design choice.

The base have light-up and sound effects when the Voltron key is inserted. For the base gimmick, I'll give Toynami a thumbs up.

This 30th Anniversary version came out about 6 years ago. Today there are better designed Voltrons in the market like the SOC and Icarus version. Not recommended unless you like the base and are a Voltron completist.
