Got this as a gift. I was quite surprised. This is the Matchbox version of Popy's Golion, renamed Voltron 3. Matchbox removed all the firing features, weapons and blunted the lion's teeth. And he doesn't even come with his Blazing sword or shield. The weapons were sold separately. Despite being stripped off all his cool weaponry, this is still a very solid toy and display piece.

There are two box variations, one with flip cover. This is the non-flip cover version and it has a nice illustration of Voltron 3.

Voltron 3 - The King of the Space Jungle??? - says the box!

My specimen have very crisp styrofoam box. There's only a small damage at the bottom.

The Green and Red lion heads still fires.

And they have the Popy stickers on their belly just like the original Godaikin Golion and the Popy Golion.

The joints on the red lion are pretty tight.

The yellow lion tail tip is broken.

Let's form Voltron....probably seen it a thousand times!

And I'll form .....

... the head!

"RRRoooaaaarrrr!!!"

The box is oversized compared to the robot. I am happy to have this as now I have four licensed versions / variations of this mold - Popy Golion, Godaikin Golion, Matchbox Voltron 3 and Trendmasters Diecast Voltron 3rd Dimension.

There's one more variation and that is the unlicensed Taiwan's Lionbot. I used to have this but sold it few years back. The quality and paint job of the Lionbot is very poor.

This is quite difficult to find, especially a mint with box in the secondary market. Prices are steep too. Recommended if you are a Voltron completist.
