BANDAI SUPER MINIPLA GOLION / VOLTRON UNBOXING (UPDATED 23 Nov 2020)

I don't intend to build this for review. There are many reviews of this available on YouTube. Instead, I'll show some pictures of unboxing this Golion/Voltron set. Bandai's Super Minipla is basically a model kit with a candy in the box. Nobody actually buys them for the candy. Retailers here sell them in sets, which makes sense. Who would want to buy individual lions? Furthermore, being a candy toy, these aren't cheap.

The boxes came pack in a black and white outer box.

The individual boxes are numbered 1-5.

No 1 - The Black Lion. It comes with two instructions. One for the model kit assembly and the other for forming Voltron. Pic above - Black lion head and Golion face.

Unfortunately the sticker sheet is creased because of the way it was packed. Luckily the crease doesn't affect the decals.

No 2 - The Red Lion. He comes with the Sword.

The sword is pre-painted with silver and gold.

No 3 - Green Lion. He comes with the Star Shield Weapon.

No 4 - The Blue Lion.

No 5 - The Yellow Lion.

All the lions comes with their original weapons. And these weapons can be combined to form a mega blaster weapon, an original weapon design from this minipla.

The super minipla Golion / Voltron doesn't have perfect transformation. The lion legs are replaced with silver buttons to allow articulation (see pic below).

Recommended if you're a Golion / Voltron fan. This set is selling out fast!

UPDATE Nov 25, 2020.

Since the lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic, my kids have been staying at home, most of the time glued to smartphone or TVs. To encourage more healthy activities, I decided to let them build the Minipla Voltron. They did a great job!

And I am most impressed by the quality of the plastic, somehow different from Gundam kits. And the joints are very tight on all the lions.
