ALTIMITES DX VOLTRON BY TOYNAMI

This is my first Toynami Voltron. I was not a fan of Toynami Voltron because of bad reviews - usually due to the quality issues and exorbitant prices. I made this purchase after I found out that this toy is available locally and I don't have to pay crazy shipping prices. It's not cheap even though getting it locally.

It has got very nice box art. Notice at the bottom right corner, it is stated "...for the adult collector" in bold and capital letters!

I like this because it's cute. Toynami released a non-transforming diecast cute Voltron before this. I didn't get that because...well it's non-transformable. This set comes with those cute lions and their tiny pilots, sword and shield and a lame black and white one piece instruction sheet. With that kinda price Toynami charge for this little fella, they can't even give a better quality and color manual.

Now for the moment of truth - the sculpt and paint is good. The bad is that some of the tiny lion legs joint are pretty loose. This is the first time I see the red and green lions to be larger than blue and yellow lions.

The head of the lions can be open to fit those tiny pilots inside.

The tiny pilot - Pidge (green) is shorter than the rest.

Forming Voltron - at first the Blue Lion doesn't attach to the Black Lion's legs. And the claw of the black lion's leg keep popping off. The claw can be reattach but it is pretty loose, really disappointed at the quality. After viewing a few Youtube reviewers of this, I found out that this is a common problem with the Blue Lion. And you have to use a substantial amount of force to get the Blue Lion to attach and form the leg.

Voltron looks pretty cute for display.

As the box says "This is not a toy, for the adult collector", This Voltron have tons of articulation but unfortunately the joints are not sturdy and it wouldn't stand the test of 'play' because they get loose easily. Would I recommend this Voltron? No. It is over priced and the quality is not up to par. The only good thing I can say about this is that it will make a good display piece. eBay price range - USD110-150.
