I saw Jumbo figure a few months back and didn't buy because I thought the figure wasn't complete. The toy shop owner place the figure in his display case, minus the remote control base and the very rare Blazing Sword. Only when I asked him a few months later, he revealed that he actually have the sword and the base in his home! The price is steep but after some friendly collector chat about vintage chogokins with the owner, he gave me a discount. for this. Got him yesterday and I am pretty happy with it. The figure is not perfect especially the stickers, but this LJN Giant Commander Voltron is complete.

I didn't test the remote control base. Probably it's not working. But the real reason to get this is the Jumbo Voltron. This figure is made in the USA and it's based on the Japan's Popy Jumbo Golion mold. The difference is the Japan version have missiles storage on his hips and the lion's heads fires these missiles. This LJN version doesn't have any firing gimmick but instead they included a Blazing Sword, which is also very cool! Note: The Japanese version doesn't comes with the sword. The guys looks pretty standing at 24" tall.

(UPDATE 28 April - I tested the remote control base, the motor is still working but the wheels don't turn. Open up to check, found out that the gears inside had misaligned. Found a temporary solution to align the wheels so they don't go out of place - and now it works perfectly!)

The often missing accessories in this figure are the wings and the sword. If you're buying in the secondary market, be sure to check that these are included. Next are the stickers. The stickers from my specimen looks original and it's started peeling and the chest sticker had discolored. The previous owner used cellophane tape to tape the peeling sticker in place, which is not a good idea.

The head sculpt is nice!

The Blazing Sword is short. And the lion heads can't really hold it. As such, LJN made an extra piece of plastic sticking out of the sword that clip on to the lion's head.

Articulation - head turn, shoulder swivel and ball jointed elbow, and a "spring" jaw. Luckily the joints on my specimen are still tight.

Voltron can bend his elbows to create the "form Blazing Sword" pose.

This Jumbo Voltron is gorgeous. Quite rare to find a complete specimen these days. Saw one recently on eBay - loose and incomplete, selling for USD223!
