VINTAGE 1979 POPY CHOGOKIN DX GA-09 YUUSHA RAIDEEN (BRAVE RAIDEEN)

Popy Chogokin GA-09 Raideen is known as the first transforming robot toy. It transform from Robot to Bird mode and back. Picture here is an early edition of Raideen with the 5th version box. The box is crappy and my set is missing the instruction sheet.

Raideen is very heavy - the body, upper arms and legs are diecast. In this original version, the upper legs are white, the horns and weapons are molded yellow with some red and the side panels are white. In the later version (1990s), the legs are not painted, the horns and weapons are gold, and side panels are red.

Yes! Raideen have rocket punch feature! He comes with 4 fists!

Raideen comes with 2 weapons - shield and bow.

One final gimmick - Raideen can transform into a God-Bird mode.

He has diecast wheels allowing him to roll freely.

Overall he's a cool toy - loads of diecasts, firing fists, weapons and transforming gimmick! And he's well sculpted too.

Popy Chogokin Raideen is somewhat rare. This version doesn't show up often in eBay. Even when it does, it goes for USD150-220 or more. It's easier to find the Shogun Warriors US version and that was sold for USD99 recently.
