VINTAGE 1984 BANDAI CHOGOKIN GODAIKIN DAIDENJIN

This is the robot from the Super Sentai Series (sort of like Power Rangers) Denziman. This is the American release under the banner of Godaikin. Previously it's release in Japan under Popy Chogokin (GB-14). I got this from a local toystore, the price is very much lower than getting it from eBay.

At first look, everything looks complete and mint. I even check and recheck, everything seems good. Sadly that is not the case. More on this later.

The robot is beautiful. It comes with a gigantic sword, a wrecking ball, boomerang, 3 x yellow missiles (originally 4), 4 x big punch fist and instruction sheet. Overall the paint and chrome still looks sharp and good.

The body, upper legs and feet are diecast!

Play gimmicks includes firing fist and he can hold all the three weapons - boomerang, wrecking ball and sword. Tested the firing mechanism, it's still very good!

The sword is embossed with 'D' logo and the word "DENZIKEN"

Another interesting gimmick is that the robot can transform into a 'space port' according to the box. It's actually a space ship. During transformation, I found out that the pin that rotates the chest piece is broken. It doesn't affect the transformation because the back pins are still firmly in place. And in robot mode, the chest piece fits snugly to the robot, that's why I didn't notice this defect. A bit disappointed here.

There are landing wheels and the spaceship can roll freely.

The nose of the spaceship shoots the yellow missiles.

The defect is hardly visible. I guess this is the only time I'll transform it to spaceship mode, don't want to risk breaking it further. Well the spaceship actually looks quite good.

This toy has loads of diecast, 3 weapons, firing fists and missiles and even transform! Yes I recommend it if you are a vintage robot collector and if you can find one at a good price. eBay prices ranges from USD250-300 for a complete specimen.

Interesting Note - Daidenjin is the first transforming robot in the Super Sentai Series.
