Fast forward to the 90s, Trendmaster released some cool Voltron toys in line of the Voltron 3D animation. I regretted for not getting the diecast Voltron set, which now is quite expensive in the secondary market. Instead I got this small 8" plastic version. What makes Trendmaster's Voltron different from other Voltrons is that it has a black face.

This is a basic set with all 5 lions, the Blazing sword and Star shield. The sword and shield are chromed. The lions legs are painted silverish grey. Transformation is pretty standard. Play gimmick includes shooting red and green lion head. Unfortunately there are no elbows articulation on these two. And their jaws cant be open too, making it difficult to hold the sword.

The other 3 lions have opening jaws. But there are no special play gimmicks for these.

So let's form Voltron.

As you can see, because of the non opening jaws of the red lion, he can only hold the tip of the sword. But I am glad they retain the rocket punch gimmick.

This is not common on eBay. You can find more of the diecast version there. For this 8" Voltron, saw one selling for USD60 and another asking for USD200.
